Independence Charter School revamps Web site (pro bono)
Independence Charter
School (Independence Charter) is a public charter school
serving children in kindergarten through eighth grade in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
In their sixth year of operation, the school felt it was time to present a
more polished external “face.” context worked with the principal/CEO
and board of trustees on a pro bono basis to rethink their Web site.
Independence Charter needed to deliver information to prospective and current parents, as well as to potential corporate and foundation supporters. These various audiences had different reasons to go to the Web site, whether for a school form, standardized test scores, or curriculum information. context facilitated talks with the principal/CEO and other stakeholders to crystallize their vision for the Web redesign. After presenting best practices for school Web site design, context developed the site's architecture and content and partnered with Independence Charter's Web site consultancy, Nanomonkey, to deliver a refreshed site that better represented the school's excellence.
Following the launch of the new Web site design, Independence Charter received
instantaneous feedback that the site was not only more professional-looking,
but also easier to use, more comprehensive, a much-needed resource for day-to-day
information, and a valuable communication channel.
context helped support Independence Charter's move to a new building with
the launch and management of an online, two-way forum for interested parties
to ask questions about the move and the new facilities. context is currently
working with Independence Charter's CEO, development director, and graphic design
firm to rethink the school's brand.
